Plot Synopsis

Dr. Jan Pol runs a veterinary practice, specializing in large farm animals, in Central Michigan, and this reality series follows him as he makes farm calls, interacts with clients at his animal hospital, and treats pets that need his help. Whether he's birthing a calf on a farm or treating a shar-pei with entropion, Dr. Pol takes an old school, no-nonsense approach to veterinary medicine as he cares for every family pet and head of livestock in his rural town. Jan's son, Charles, teamed with filmmaker Jon Schroder, to shoot the pilot. Season 2 starts with a weather warning -- when the tornado sirens start blaring, the whole clinic, including the owners and pets, must move to the basement for their safety and ride out the storm. This series returned for its third season on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 9pm ET, with Dr. Pol and Diane convinced the full moon has caused some unpredictable animal behavior. Nat Geo Wild debuted Season 4 of this series on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT, during which Charles dove into icy waters at a charity event.

Dr. Pol returned for a fifth season on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild. This season, Charles is still home to help his parents and Dr. Brenda with the clinic, while Diane keeps the clinic in tip-top shape. With winter finally slowing down, spring brings a whole new set of animal ailments, as mating season is in full bloom. Dr. Pol sees a horse whose hormones are so out of control, he's chasing after mares half his size, performs an emergency castration of two bulls when their owner tried to do the procedure himself, and treats a retired racing greyhound with a strange growth on his forehead that needs to be removed.

On Saturday, August 23 2014 at 9pm ET/PT, Nat Geo Wild premiered a new season of THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL, bringing a new roster of sick, injured, oozing, kicking and biting cases. The the doctor travels across the Michigan countryside, making house calls to a variety of farm animals. Whether it's treating a cow for a deadly gastric infection, castrating a guinea pig, performing a complex feline amputation or providing a hoarse horse with some much-needed dental work, Dr. Pol and his team will do everything possible to aid sick animals, no matter how bad they smell or how hard they resist. Back at the clinic, Dr. Pol also treats a wide array of household pets and odd animal ailments with his right-hand team, including his wife, Diane, the office manager; Dr. Brenda Grettenberger, Dr. Pol's long-time colleague; and Dr. Pol's son Charles, who helps with the workload and farm calls. The new season opens with Dr. Pol performing his first-ever guinea pig castration and Dr. Brenda saves the life of a one-day-old calf with a dislocated hip. Then, it's off to the rescue of 11 tiny piglets that are starving to death.

On Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT, Nat Geo Wild premiered a new season of THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL. as this season he treats a goat for pneumonia, a horse unable to keep his meal down and a pig in desperate need of stitches. Then at 10pm ET/PT, Nat Geo Wild premiered INCREDIBLE! THE STORY OF DR. POL, a one hour bio special that goes back to his childhood in the Netherlands during World War II, and learns about his move to the American Midwest to follow his dream of becoming a veterinarian. We learn how he met and fell in love with his wife of 50 years, and talk to the people in his community who count on him to keep their animals healthy, day and night, rain or shine. By his estimate, his practice has treated more than half a million animals and counting. This special reveals the best of those stories.

Nat Geo Wild premiered a new season of THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT, immediately following a nine-hour marathon (Noon-9pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener, "Squeal of Dreams," Dr. Pol takes calls from all over Isabella County now that the spring birthing season is in full swing. THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL returned with new episodes on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild. In this new episode, spring showers bring May flowers...and a rather painful situation for one unlucky patient. Dr. Pol must figure out why a large bull has been limping around.

Season 13 of THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL premiered on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild. In the season opener, "I Love Moo!," Dr. Brenda helps a cow that cannot get back on her feet; Charles orchestrates his biggest surprise yet for his parents' 50th wedding anniversary.

THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL returned for a new season on Saturday, July 11, 2020 from 9-10:30pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild. This season is packed with some surprising and complicated cases, dramatic situations and heartwarming moments, such as the birth of Dr. Pol's first granddaughter, Abigail.

A new season of THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL premiered on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild. In the season opener, "The Magic Touch," Dr. Pol and team work on cases from a tiny reptile to an injured horse.

Nat Geo Wild premiered a new season of THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "Another Day Another Collar," it's the dog days of winter for PVS as they treat limps, lumps and injured pups.

On Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 7-10pm ET/PT, Nat Geo Wild debuted a new two-hour special immediately followed by the Season 21 premiere. The night opens with "A 200th Polapalooza" (7-9pm; special), which is a two-hour celebration of THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL's 200 episodes. Then, in the season opener, "Chutes and Bladders" (9-10pm), no matter the heat, the vets keep cool during multiple intense emergencies.

THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL returned for its 22nd season on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild with the season opener, "Mission Impawssible." After a three-month break, THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL returned with new episodes on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild. In the summer premiere, "You Quack Me Up," animal antics give everyone at the clinic a case of the giggles.

Season 24 of THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL debuted on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild. The season opener, "A DOCumentary," takes a documentary-style look into the personal lives of the country vets
