Plot Synopsis

Held each year since 2021, INSPIRING AMERICA: THE INSPIRATION LIST is an annual NBCUniversal News Group special that shines light on people -- both famous and everyday Americans -- who make positive changes in the world around them. The list of honorees varies in terms of profession and industry, and everyone from famous actresses to NASA astronauts is eligible.

Hosted by Lester Holt, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, the inaugural event debuted on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT on NBC. The first-ever Inspiration List includes: philanthropists Alex Trebek and Jean Trebek, award-winning songwriter, actor and director Lin-Manuel Miranda, NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon, founder of World Central Kitchen Jose Andres, CEO of Feeding America Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, the Inspiration4 Crew and America's teachers.

The 2022 event debuted on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on NBC, and was co-hosted by Lester Holt, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb. The one-hour special paid tribute to these honorees: Rita Moreno, Nathan Chen, Erin Jackson, Mikaela Shiffrin, Katharine Hayhoe, Christy Turlington Burns, Gwynne Shotwell, and more.
INSPIRING AMERICA: THE 2023 INSPIRATION LIST debuted on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 8pm ET/PT on NBC.
