Plot Synopsis

In CARS OF THE PEOPLE, host James May discovers how the car became an everyday part of normal people's lives. In each one-hour episode, James explores a different theme, including: how dictators helped kickstart the mobilization of the masses; the weird world of the microcar, created in response to austerity; and the world of the prestige car. BBC America aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT, one day after BBC Two broadcast the season finale. The series was titled JAMES MAY'S CARS OF THE PEOPLE in the UK and for the second season in the U.S., but BBC America broadcast Season 1 with the title TOP GEAR: CARS OF THE PEOPLE.

JAMES MAY'S CARS OF THE PEOPLE returned for its second season in the United States on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 11pm ET/PT on BBC America. In the season opener, James May encounters classic E-Types, Mustangs and upstarts that were to conquer the world and turn post-war Germany and Japan into motoring powerhouses. He also has an unfortunate encounter with an Austin Allegro.
