Plot Synopsis
Hosted by comedian Joan Rivers, THE JOAN RIVERS SHOW is a one-hour, syndicated daytime talk show for which Rivers won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk/Service Show Host in 1990. For the next three years, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in the same category, but didn't win. This daytime show was a dramatic departure from her late-night series, and she was no longer dishing "with David Lee Roth about his babes, or Joan Collins about her furs. Now she's talking to anonymous women about their emotions and law enforcers about ridding the streets of drugs and filth," according to Ray Richmond in "The Orange County Register." In the first episode, Rivers chatted with country singer Loretta Lynn in between two other segments: two women left at the altar by their men; and Lisa Sliwa, wife of Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa. THE JOAN RIVERS SHOW aired for five years.
