Using exclusive footage and interviews from all sides of the case, JOHN OF GOD: THE CRIMES OF A SPIRITUAL HEALER is a documentary series that tells the story of idolized medium Joao Teixeira de Faria, who became world famous for his spiritual surgeries. But soon, survivors, prosecutors and the press reveal that he was at the center of Brazil's biggest sexual harassment scandal. Tales of miracles lure thousands to Joao Teixeira de Faria's spiritual surgery facility in central Brazil. Some leave "healed," others forever scarred. Profits and influence grow, as do the accusations, complicating Faria and his inner circle's plans to build an international brand and business. Emboldened by the mounting charges against "John of God," survivors band together -- and build a damning case against their abuser. Faria's daughter shares her own terrible story of abuse and manipulation. "John of God" faces a reckoning while survivors try to move forward.
