Plot Synopsis

Based on characters in the best-selling books by author David Baldacci, KING AND MAXWELL is a scripted drama that follows two atypical private investigators, Sean King and Michelle Maxwell, who are both former Secret Service agents. Maxwell is a former elite athlete who uses her brains, beauty and Beltway connections to solve cases. She is extremely loyal to her partner and will do just about anything to close her case, including temporarily obstructing law enforcement, but she also has a major temper and impulsive tendencies. King's career in the Secret Service ended when the presidential candidate he was assigned to protect was assassinated, sending him on a downward spiral. Today, King has added a law degree to his arsenal of skills, allowing him to navigate the system in ways a typical private investigator never could. Along the way, King and Maxwell clash over everything -- from her garbage-strewn car to his love of wine over beer -- while investigating crimes, ranging from a plot with political repercussions to a high-lever cover-up following an assassination attempt on a visiting diplomat previously assigned to Maxwell. Plus, the duo clash with two FBI Special Agents, Rigby and Carter, because of their less-than-legal methods. Edgar Roy, a high-functioning autistic savant who specializes in patterns and numerical sequences, is a suspected serial killer being held in a maximum security prison.
