Plot Synopsis

Narrated by Zelda Williams, THE LETTER is a one-hour unscripted relationship show that focuses on friends challenging each other to better themselves through anonymous letters written to each other. The series asks participants the simple question, "If you could anonymously tell your best friend in a letter the things that he or she really needed to hear, would you do it?" In each 60-minute episode, a different set of four friends draw names and anonymously write to the selected person a thoughtful, yet totally honest, letter outlining their opinion of what needs to be changed in order to improve and transform their friend's life for the better. For one week, each "reader" must follow all the rules and instructions outlined in the letter, culminating in a dramatic and emotionally charged meeting where the authors of each letter reveal themselves to their best friends. The series premiere features four best friends from New Jersey -- Jill Decker, Amy Drinkwater, LeKwon Imoke, and Rory Mycek -- who met in college and have been inseparable ever since decide to take on the letter challenge. When each girl receives their letter, they are required to follow all of the letter's instructions for one week. Rory has to spend time without her dogs; Amy must go out on a blind date; LeKwon needs to delete all her dating apps; and Jill faces why she's so concerned with her appearance.

On Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 9-11pm ET/PT, Freeform premiered the season finale of THE LETTER, showing back-to-back new episodes. In the night's first new episode (9pm), "Atlanta Belles," four best friends love to party and have a great time together, but each girl has at least one self-destructive habit. What they don't know is that some of the girls have been keeping painful secrets that in turn have been affecting their friendships. They decide to take The Letter challenge in hopes of facing the truth and making changes that can only help their futures. They will draw names and anonymously write an honest letter to the selected person outlining their opinion of what behaviors need to change. Then, in the season ender (10pm), "Friends Since Four," four young women from Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, decide they've become too caught up in their small-town lives and must push each other to the limit if they're ever going to branch out and grow. They will draw names and anonymously write an honest letter to the selected person outlining their opinion of what behaviors need to change.
