Plot Synopsis

LOVE AT FIRST BITE is a half-hour docuseries that centers on accomplished chefs and their partners who met, fell in love, and followed their passion for food and creativity together by opening a restaurant. In this series, the couples cook meaningful dishes in their home kitchen, showcasing their relationship while also providing educational cooking tips. Each 30-minute episode features a different chef, including Vivian Howard, Nina Compton, Gavin Kaysen, Adam Sappington, John Shields, Elise Kornack, and Sohui Kim. The series opener, "When Vivian Met Ben," follows North Carolina chef Vivian Howard and her husband Ben Knight. After reevaluating their life in New York City, the couple found success and happiness in a place they never imagined: Vivian's hometown in rural North Carolina. Today, they are the proud owners of three restaurants, and are credited with helping revive the small town of Kinston economically with the opening of their first restaurant, Chef and the Farmer, in 2006. In their episode, the duo create several delectable dishes, including braised pork shoulder and sweet potato lasagna; black bean-glazed salmon and lentil-apple soup. On Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT, FYI premiered "When John Met Karen," the season finale of LOVE AT FIRST BITE. Although their first meeting included Karen scolding John for making a mess in the pastry department, things were smooth sailing after that. Turning down an incredible gig in Las Vegas, the couple bought a restaurant off Craigslist in rural Virginia and made a name for themselves. Since then, they've opened a dual-concept spot in Chicago that has critics and locals alike battling to get a table.
