Plot Synopsis

Based on her many years of experimenting, teaching and research, host Martha Stewart features the best of the best in home baking. This Baking 101 destination delivers an edited collection of Martha's personal favorites, from savories to sweets. It also demystifies baking -- everything from how to make the perfect cheesecake without a crack to how to create the ultimate devil's food cake. Each 30-minute episode covers a single theme -- like pound cake or pate brisee -- beginning with a recipe's basic foundation and exploring how the addition of certain ingredients or the use of a new technique results in multiple dishes. MARTHA BAKES is part of the Hallmark Channel Home programming block.

Season 8 of MARTHA BAKES premiered on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 4:30pm on PBS (check local listings). In the season opener, "Updated Classics," Martha teaches viewers how to replace the usual ingredients with more wholesome substitutes in three updated classics: luscious rhubarb and raspberry rye crisps, as trendy as they are delicious; flaky buttermilk barley biscuits; and a lofty spelt layer cake lightened with whipped cream and berries.
