Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears
Plot Synopsis
Based on the series of books of the same name, MISS FISHER'S MURDER MYSTERIES follows fledgling detective Phryne Fisher as she sashays through the back streets, jazz clubs and mansions of the 1920s Melbourne, Australia, fighting injustice with her pearl-handled pistol and her dagger-sharp wit. Ovation aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 8pm ET. In the series opener, "Cocaine Blues," Miss Fisher finds herself embroiled in a mystery almost as soon as she disembarks at Melbourne. Between investigating a cocaine smuggling ring, a back alley abortionist, and the poisoning of a friend's husband, Phryne's life is one big adventure.

On Monday, March 23, 2020 Acorn TV released "Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears," a feature film adaptation of MISS FISHER'S MURDER MYSTERIES. Phryne Fisher embarks on a new journey of mystery and mayhem through exotic 1920s British Palestine and the opulence of grand London manors. Fisher frees a young Bedouin girl, Shirin Abbas (Izabella Yena) from unjust imprisonment in late 1920s Jerusalem, and unravels a wartime mystery concerning priceless emeralds, ancient curses and the truth behind the suspicious disappearance of Shirin's forgotten tribe. In addition to Davis, returning in the five-time Logie-nominated role that made her a known name, the film features series regular Nathan Page as close associate and her longtime romantic admirer Detective Inspector Jack Robinson and Miriam Margolyes as Aunt Prudence, as well as new cast additions Daniel Lapaine, Rupert Penry Jones, and Jacqueline McKenzie. Filmed on location in Morocco, including at the extraordinary sand dunes on the edge of the Sahara Desert, and in Melbourne's magnificent historic mansions.
