Plot Synopsis

Based on the Stephen King book of the same name and adapted for television by David E. Kelley, MR. MERCEDES centers on a demented killer, Brady Hartsfield, who taunts a retired police detective, Bill Hodges, with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private -- and potentially felonious -- crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again. As Hodges struggles to maintain his sanity, both his former partner Pete and his next-door neighbor Ida Silver take notice. Brady's wife, Deborah, worries about him, as he gives her a window into his latest work. Hodges connects with Janey Patterson, the younger sister of the late Olivia Trelawney, who hires him as a private detective.

The sophomore season of MR. MERCEDES premiered on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on the Audience Network. The second season takes place a year after Brady Hartsfield's thwarted attempt to perpetrate a second mass murder in the community of Bridgton, Ohio. Since the incident, Hartsfield has been hospitalized in a vegetative state. Retired Detective Bill Hodges has done his best to move on from his Brady obsession, teaming up with Holly Gibney to open Finders Keepers, a private investigative agency. But when unexplainable occurrences begin to affect hospital staff members attending to Brady, Hodges is haunted by the feeling that Brady is somehow responsible.

Season 3 of MR. MERCEDES premiered on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT on AT&T's Audience Network. The third season follows the story contained in "Finders Keepers," the second book of Stephen King's Bill Hodges trilogy, and continues to explore the fallout from the massacre perpetrated by Brady Hartsfield. When beloved local author John Rothstein is found murdered, Hodges, Holly, and Jerome, along with local police, must track down his killer. But this case is more complex than the cold-blooded killing of an American icon. Unpublished novels of Rothstein's were stolen from his home, and they are worth millions. As the case unfolds, the trio learns that although Brady may be gone, his depravity lives on in the lives of his victims.
