Plot Synopsis

Dave Vitalli, a self-styled commando turned family fixer, brings troubled teens and their sometimes wayward parents back from the brink of disrepair. Struggling parents call Dave for help with their difficult teenagers, but years of experience working with families in crisis have taught him the apple doesn't usually fall far from the tree. A survivor of abuse himself, Dave is passionate about mentoring troubled teens and has counseled hundreds of families in crisis, as he has appeared in more than 275 episodes of the syndicated TV series MAURY. Now, in each one-hour episode of MY DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY, Dave uses lie detectors, drug-sniffing dogs and other surprise tactics to give a different family hope for a fresh start. This series takes Dave across the United States to such cities as Gulf Shores, AL; Camp Verde, AZ; Rossville, GA; Covington, LA; and many more American towns where he helps families deal with complex issues ranging from addiction to abandonment.
