Plot Synopsis
Each half-hour episode of NEVER SEEN AGAIN focuses on a single case that starts with a gut punch, as a loved one recounts the last time they saw their son, daughter, brother, sister, boyfriend or girlfriend before they vanished into thin air. These are real mysteries about real people who have disappeared from families and relationships, abandoning lives, leaving only theories in their wake: Where did they go? Why? Did they run away, or were they the victims of foul play? Those left behind, heartbroken and shellshocked, struggle to solve the puzzle. Viewers are encouraged to join the search, to help the families find closure by contacting police departments and Crime Stoppers. NEVER SEEN AGAIN poses a crucial question: Someone out there knows something ... Is it you? The first episode of NEVER SEEN AGAIN is available for free Saturday, May 7 through Monday, May 10 on the CBS News app, and the entire eight-episode first season dropped on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 on Paramount+.
The series opener features a story that sparked outrage and a quest for answers from award-winning filmmaker-actor-director Tyler Perry. A 27-year-old Black man named Terrance Williams disappeared in Naples, Fla. in 2004 after he was last seen getting into a Collier County sheriff's patrol car. At first, the officer said he never met Williams, but under questioning from police investigators, he changed his story, saying the young man had car troubles and he simply gave him a ride to a gas station. When it comes to light that a second man, a young Mexican immigrant named Felipe Santos, disappeared after getting into the same officer's car, both Williams' desperate mother and Perry fear something far more sinister occurred. Some have even speculated that the sheriff went rogue and abandoned each man in the alligator-infested Everglades nearby. "They're both disappearing with the same deputy after being put in the same deputy's car," Perry says. "If this is a coincidence, then he is the most unlucky man in the world, that this could actually be something that happened to him twice. I just don't see how that is possible. And I think that anybody in law enforcement can look at this and go, 'What happened to them?'"
The sophomore season of NEVER SEEN AGAIN premiered on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, as Paramount+ released the entire 10-episode new season. The second season kicks off with a bizarre two-part tale of Caleb Diehl, a popular and hard-working high school senior who fails to show up for school one day. Could he have crashed his truck? Was he cooling off after an argument with his dad? Or did a prominent local businessman, a close family friend of the Diehls, know more than he was letting on? The investigation into Diehl's whereabouts ends up uncovering sinister secrets that had lain hidden for years in a small Texas town, including shocking revelations about the man who has been a pillar of the tightknit community. Other mysterious vanishings this season include: Ashley Loring Heavy Runner, who left the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana for a college career and a brighter future; Heather Teague, an all-American girl and former high school cheerleader, who was determined to become a nurse; Susan Osborne, whose husband says she took his stepson Evan Chartrand, walked out one day and never came back; Ali Gilmore, a graduate of Florida A&M, who was holding down two jobs, but a complicated love life might have derailed her; 4-year-old Oakley Carlson, whose foster parents must reluctantly give her back to her biological parents; Michael Samdass, who was the life of the party and the apple of his family's eye; single mom Cortney Lake, who wages a successful campaign to enter a beauty pageant that doesn't allow mothers to compete; adventurer Jon Riley, who goes missing and then a human foot is found in a nearby lake.
The entire 12-episode third season of NEVER SEEN AGAIN dropped on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 on Paramount+. The consequences are life-changing for the parents, husbands, wives, siblings, children and friends left behind. Life's routines are suddenly broken -- a spouse doesn't return from work, a son stops calling his mother on Sunday nights, a best friend never returns from a camping trip. There is no body, no blood trail, no conclusive proof of injury. But almost always, there are rich digital clues: the location of a final cell phone signal, an ominous text message, or even a selfie posted on social media. These are the starting points for some of the country's best investigators who offer intriguing theories about why a vehicle was abandoned, a sweater found torn and discarded, or the meaning of a cryptic last voice message. Did the missing loved one run away or meet foul play? Was there a personal crisis? With no closure, friends and families urgently seek answers about ongoing mysteries that might only be solved with your help. Someone out there knows something and it could be you.
Season 4 of NEVER SEEN AGAIN premiered on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 on Paramount+, which released all 10 episodes of the new season. The fourth season kicks off with a two-episode story about 15-year-old Kristen Galvan, who disappeared. Later, Houston police pick her up and say she may have been trafficked. She's recovering when she vanishes again. In search of her daughter Kristen, Robyn sets out on a journey into Houston's underworld, encountering pimps, johns, and con artists along the way. Other vanishings include: Dane Elkins, who goes missing...and it looks like he's gone off the grid; Echo Lloyd, who moves to a remote part of the Ozarks to be alone; 14-year-old Justin Rutter doesn't come home one night, causing his family to panic; Irene Gakwa, who comes to America from Kenya to join her brothers and become a nurse; a two-part story about 19-year old Dylan Rounds, who goes missing without a trace from his farm in remote northwest Utah; 27-year-old Pepita Redhair, who was last seen by her mother after she dropped her off at Pepita's boyfriend's house; and transgender indigenous woman Aubrey Dameron vanishes in the middle of the night.
