Plot Synopsis

This docuseries follows four newlywed couples during their first year of marriage, capturing everything between their wedding day and their one-year anniversary. Over eight episodes in Season 1, Emmy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated documentarian Lauren Lazin captures all the joys and challenges of married life, with issues ranging from fertility struggles and merging of finances to major cultural differences and family drama. NEWLYWEDS: THE FIRST YEAR chronicles the lives of these four couples in the first season: federal investigator Jeff Pedersen and former European pop-star Blair Late, who were married in Savannah, GA on April 28, 2012 and whose age and personality differences are magnified when they visit a sex therapist and battle over finances; NYC celebrity stylist Kimberly V. Gedeon and A&R director Alaska Gedeon, who are a bi-coastal couple balancing their careers and marriage, using their religious beliefs as Christians to guide them; Indian international pop-star Tina Sugandh and tech geek Tarz Ludwigsen, who have struggled to find time together over the years and are hoping that getting married will change that, despite Tina's rising success in music and Tarz's focus on his new business; and Kathryn Bougadis and John Lagoudes, who, after a few months of marriage, become owners/operators of a Long Island tanning salon, where their personality differences clash when running the new business. On Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, Bravo premiered the second season of NEWLYWEDS: THE FIRST YEAR, which follows four new couples as they walk down the aisle. In Season 2, Samantha Abby and Laura Leigh Abby, Erik Courtney and Nadine Jolie Courtney, Kirk and Laura Knight and Toi and Rouvaun Walker are putting love to the test -- from challenging in-laws to fertility struggles and merging complicated lives together. Season 3 of NEWLYWEDS: THE FIRST YEAR premiered on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo, moving to its regular timeslot -- Wednesdays at 10pm -- on January 6. The third season follows four new couples, who deal with everything from difficult in-laws to fertility struggles and adultery, as they put love to the test. The four new couples are: Rochelle and Rob Brann, a true millenial couple who met at Rob's college fraternity party, as Ro seeks to overcome unresolved abandonment issues with her father and Rob struggles to choose between his professional obligations and his true passion; Erica, a real estate agent, and Adonis, an entrepreneur, who face an uphill battle when days before their wedding Adonis makes a last minute revelation; Brandon, a celebrity hairstylist, and Craig, a celebrity fitness expert, who have run into an unexpected roadblock that could completely change the course of their plans for children; and Tara and Rob Radcliffe, who begin to discover that they must deal with old issues as they navigate their first year as newlyweds.

On Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT, Bravo premiered the season finale of NEWLYWEDS: THE FIRST YEAR. In the season ender, "How to Get Away with Marriage," Tara and Rob finally come to an agreement about Rob's relationship with her parents after a tense honeymoon in San Francisco. Later they are thrilled to move into their newly renovated house. Rob surprises Ro with a romantic getaway in the city to celebrate their anniversary. Meanwhile, Craig and Brandon decide to celebrate their first year anniversary with a big party, but they are caught off guard when they get some big news that leaves them speechless. Back at home after her birthday getaway, Erica reveals to Adonis her plans that could drastically affect the future of their marriage.
