Plot Synopsis
Nearly 20 years ago, Owen Strand was the lone survivor of his Manhattan firehouse on 9/11. In the wake of the attack, Owen had the unenviable task of rebuilding his station. After a similar tragedy happens to a firehouse in Austin, Owen, along with his troubled firefighter son T.K., takes his progressive philosophies of life and firefighting down to Texas, where he helps them start anew. On the surface, Owen is all about big-city style and swagger, but underneath he struggles with a secret he hides from the world -- one that could very well end his life. Once in Austin, Owen meets the brilliant and wry chief paramedic Michelle Blake, as well as police officer Carlos Reyes. He then begins to assemble his new team of diverse and qualified candidates for Firehouse 126, including Marjan Marwani, an adrenaline junkie and badass firefighter who also is a devout Muslim; Paul Strickland, a transgender male firefighter, who bravely decided to transition on the job in Chicago and has a gift for observation worthy of Sherlock Holmes; and rookie firefighter Mateo Chavez. Owen's toughest challenge may be Judd Ryder, who, like Owen, was the sole survivor of Austin's original 126 house after a rescue call ended in tragedy. A gruff cowboy to his core, Judd is married to Grace, a 9-1-1 call center operator, and struggles with PTSD, unsure if he ever can be the firefighter he once was. Immediately following the NFC Championship and postgme coverage, 9-1-1: LONE STAR premiered on Sunday, January 19, 2020 live in all times zones, scheduled from 10-11:30pm ET/9-10:30pm CT/8-9:30pm MT/7-7:30pm PT. 9-1-1: LONE STAR then moved to its regular timeslot -- Mondays at 8pm ET/PT -- the following night, January 20.
On Monday, January 18, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT, FOX premiered the second season of 9-1-1: LONE STAR. Gina Torres joins Season 2 as Captain Tommy Vega. But even as Cpt. Owen Strand welcomes Vega to the 126, he must face the unexpected arrival of his ex-wife, Gwyneth (recurring guest star Lisa Edelstein), who visits Austin to check on their firefighter son, T.K., following the injuries he sustained at the end of last season. All of this occurs as the rescue squad must deal with an emergency that the Texas capital has never encountered before. In the season opener, "Back in the Saddle," the 126 crew responds to a military tank on the loose in downtown Austin and a human pile-up at the roller derby. Meanwhile, new paramedic captain, Tommy Vega, joins the team and Owen is reunited with his ex-wife and T.K.'s mother, Gwyneth (guest star Lisa Edelstein), and receives an update on his cancer. On Monday, April 19, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT, FOX debuted "Saving Grace," the spring premiere of 9-1-1: LONE STAR. Grace and Judd fight for their lives in the aftermath of the horrific car accident, as flashbacks show how a childhood tragedy led Judd to meet Grace and how they ultimately fell in love.
After the events of the second season finale, the 126 is shut down and the crew is dispersed across the city to start Season 3. In the multi-episode opening storyline, a massive and unexpected arctic front hits Austin with an ice storm, causing widespread chaos. Can Capt. Owen Strand and Capt. Tommy Vega not only save the city, but find a way to resurrect and reunite the former 126? Season 3 debuted on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 8pm ET/PT on FOX. In the season opener, "The Big Chill," an unexpected arctic cold front brings an ice storm to Austin and a variety of weather-related emergencies. Meanwhile, Owen deals with the fallout of the 126 closing, as Tommy, T.K. and Gillian settle into new employment and Judd and Grace prepare for the birth of their first baby.
Season 4 of 9-1-1: LONE STAR premiered on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 8pm ET/PT on FOX. In the season opener, "The New Hotness," Captains Strand and Vega along with the members of the 126 are called into action to a county fair when a Derecho, a series of fast-moving group of severe thunderstorms hit Austin, causing hurricanic and tornadic-force winds, heavy rains, flash floods and a wide path of destruction. Owen's newfound passion for motorcycling puts him on a potentially dangerous path. Tommy has the potential for a romance when she meets an attractive single father (guest star D.B. Woodside). And as T.K. and Carlos prepare for their wedding, a secret from Carlos' past may stand in their way to happiness. Lyndsy Fonseca also guest stars as Iris Blake.
