Plot Synopsis

Nine amateur hikers, campers and outdoor enthusiasts put their lives on hold to take on the opportunity, and challenge, of a lifetime. After a three-day crash course in basic survival skills, the volunteers are flown into rugged terrain and stranded. There they are given the first piece of a rudimentary map, a compass and a few basic tools and told to hike to civilization. Over the course of their month long journey, the volunteers put their newfound skills to the test. Their only reward was the chance to have a life-changing experience -- the potential to never see their lives the same way again. The first two seasons took place in Alaska while a third group of hikers were stranded in Venezuela for Season 3.
