Plot Synopsis

Blending elements of mystery-thriller, romance and the supernatural, THE PATH is a one-hour drama series that follows the Clearys, a family at the center of a controversial cult movement, as they struggle with relationships, marriage, faith and power. Cal Roberts, the charismatic face of the movement, is entangled in a complicated relationship with two other members of the movement, Sarah Cleary and her conflicted husband, Eddie. Cal battles personal demons and bold ambition as he strives to take the organization into its next generation. The series opens as Cal leads The Meyerist Movement on a disaster relief mission in New Hampshire. When Eddie returns home after completing his 6R training in Peru where he saw a horrifying vision of the organization's truth, his odd behavior leads Sarah to suspect an affair. Hulu released the first two episodes of THE PATH on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, with a new episode scheduled to be released each Wednesday morning. Hulu premiered the 13-episode second of THE PATH on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, releasing two new episodes the first day and then one new episode on each subsequent Wednesday. In its second season, THE PATH follows the Meyerist Movement as it tries to make sense of Doctor Meyer's mysterious departure. Tormented by strange visions, Eddie struggles with a new life in the secular world while Sarah, despite her skepticism of Cal, now stands beside him as Co-Guardian of The Light. When Sarah finally learns of Cal's dark past, she buries the truth for the betterment of The Movement. Cal and Sarah, now closer than ever, strive to atone for their misdeeds while Eddie, confronted with the meaning of his visions, discovers the truth of Doctor Meyer's departure. In the season opener, "Liminal Twilight," Eddie starts to build a life outside of The Movement, but secretly continues to see Sarah and the kids. Cal's plan to buy a building for the New York City center leads to tension within the Meyerist leadership. Sarah is stunned by a revelation about Cal. Then, in the season's second episode, "Dead Moon," with Meyerism facing dire financial straits, Cal and Sarah attend a fundraiser thrown by the Ridges for their wealthy friends. Eddie goes on a date with Chloe, the old girlfriend of his brother Johnny. Hawk experiences a transformation on a 1R retreat. The 13-episode third season of THE PATH premiered on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am ET, as Hulu released the first three episodes of the new season. A miracle by Eddie Lane went viral, and Meyerism has grown exponentially across the world. As the new Guardian of the Light, Eddie is forced to face the question of whether he can grow the movement without becoming a cult leader. Cal is haunted by dark demons from the past and must come face to face with them in order to defeat them. Sarah questions her faith, and in looking outside the movement for answers, she may discover one of Meyerism's deepest secrets, and the one person who could put an end to it all. Season 3 opens with Eddie working with new publicist Vera to remove security and open the doors of the movement. But when blood appears on the Compound, even his supporters will question his decision. After one of her blackmail victims commits suicide, Sarah seeks to be punished. For that she goes to Cal, who is living his own version of torture in Florida, along with Mary and his son Forest. Then, shen the family of a novice publicly bashes Eddie, he must choose between turning the other cheek and using Vera as a weapon to fire back. An old Meyerist ritual brings out repressed memories for Cal, and as much as he wants to forget, destiny, and Mary, won't let him. Sarah's faith crisis deepens when she meets a College Professor of Religion who challenges everything she's ever believed in. Despite everyone's fears and objections, Eddie wants to try and save the soul of the racist kid who's been terrorizing the Compound. Vera struggles between her loyalty to her mother and her prophecy, and her growing feelings for Eddie. Cal cannot stay in denial and hide from his trauma, so he decides to drag his family back to the Compound, making Mary fear for their future together.

On Wednesday March 28, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Hulu premiered "Blood Moon," the Season 3 finale of THE PATH. Despite everyone's objections, Eddie is determined to reveal the truth about Stephen Meyer and the origins of the Movement. But a dark force plots to stop him, and end Meyerism -- once and for all.
