Plot Synopsis

PATRICK DEMPSEY: RACING LE MANS is a reality series that follows Hollywood actor Patrick Dempsey as he and his Porsche 911 GT3 RSR team prepare for France's 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world's oldest automotive endurance race. Dempsey must strike a balance between his day job on the set of GREY'S ANATOMY, his desire to secure time in the driver's seat, and his responsibility to find financing and keep the team solvent. Along with partner Joe Foster, Dempsey must navigate the minefield that lies before them as they struggle to keep their team on the road to Le Mans. But as the 2012 season comes to a close, the team is in dire financial straits after delinquent sponsors consistently come up short, and they are forced to layoff employees and end its six-year relationship with Mazda. After an 11th-hour deal with Porsche keeps the team alive, the team gets new energy with the addition of veteran race Patrick Long and strong showings at Sebring and Laguna Seca, followed by Dempsey's first-place finish at the Mint 400. With the big race approaching, Dempsey must navigate the media circus that surrounds Le Mans -- just like Paul Newman and Steve McQueen before him -- while the three drivers -- Dempsey, Foster, and Long -- race for a spot on the podium. RACING LE MANS premiered simultaneously on Velocity and Discovery cable channels on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT, but subsequent new episodes of the series debuted only on Velocity.
