Plot Synopsis

Restaurants vie for the title of RAMSAY'S BEST RESTAURANT as restaurateurs endure a gruelling series of tests and avoid elimination. Gordon Ramsay sifted through 12,000 entries, selecting 16 restaurants -- two each from eight different types of cuisine. In the first part of the competition, two same-cuisine restaurants compete against each other as Ramsay tests the restaurants' food and service to a breaking point, ultimately choosing a winner. The victors then compete in the semi-finals, against tougher, more demanding challenges. Finally, the two best restaurants go head to head in the grand finale, competing to be crowned champion. The 16 restaurants are: Italian (Casamia; Mennula); Indian (Prashad; Brilliant Restaurant); Chinese (Yu & You; Kai); British (West House; The Milestone); Thai (Mango Tree; Nahm Jim); French (La Garrigue; Winteringham Fields); North African (Momo; Azou); Spanish (Fino Tapas Bar; El Pirata de Tapas). BBC America aired the U.S. premiere of the series on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 9pm.
