Plot Synopsis

REEL RIVALS is a reality series that follows sportfishing charter-boat captains, based out of Bud N' Mary's Marina in the Florida Keys, as they use skill, judgment and pure luck to land the biggest trophy catches, beat each other, and keep their high paying customers satisfied. Their customers flock to Islamorada, the Sportfishing Capital of the World, to test themselves against the great game fish. Some are adrenaline hunting bachelor parties, wanting to fight a monster shark; others are fishing fanatics, desperate to win a big money tournament; some are high roller CEOs and sports celebrities who've jetted in from Miami; and others are family guys from Nebraska who've never hooked a sardine. The four hard-living captains are: Scott Stanczyk, the brother of the owner of Bud n' Mary's Marina, who has been fishing for more than 32 years and has one of the biggest and fastest fishing boats in the Florida Keys; George McElveen, the former mate on Scott's boat, who became interested in fishing when he saw a marlin hanging on his grandmother's wall; Augie Wampler, the captain on Scott's old boat, who was born and raised in Islamorada and returned after leaving to play college football and work briefly as a prison guard; and Nick Stanczyk, the nephew of Scott, who has been fishing his entire life and has worked with his uncle to develop a set of uncommon techniques that make it possible to catch swordfish during the daytime.
