Plot Synopsis

Created by Alberto Barrera, THE SECRET OF THE RIVER is an eight-episode drama series that focuses on a pair of young boys -- newcomer Manuel and local kid Erik -- who develop a close relationship and a dark secret that seals their bond forever. Manuel arrives in his grandmother's town to a mixed reception. A sight at the market soon captivates him, while Erik hesitates to open up. The boys are haunted by eerie visions, and a discovery is made at the river. Then, after lying their way out of a situation, Manuel and Erik skip school in search of the truth, growing closer than ever in the journey. Years pass, and a mysterious woman, Sicaru, arrives in the town, shocking those who see her and finding herself baffled by the enigma surrounding her old home. Sicaru confronts her past, while Erik confronts his own feelings. All eight one-hour episodes of THE SECRET OF THE RIVER dropped on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 on Netflix.
