Plot Synopsis

SHARK HUNTERS chronicles five captains competing against each other in tournaments on the East Coast of the United States, as they try to catch the biggest shark in the Atlantic. Anglers on more than 600 boats from all over the world venture to the Northeast Atlantic to battle rough conditions. In the first season, anglers competed over six days in these three tournaments: the 27th Annual Star Island Yacht Club Shark Tournament that took place in Montauk, NY (June 14-15); the 43rd Annual Montauk Marine Basin Shark Tournament, Montauk, NY (June 28-29); and the 27th Annual Monster Shark Tournament, Martha's Vineyard, MA (July 18-19). The five featured captains include: Pete Brancaleone, Captain of Fish On, who has won more than $600,000 in fishing tournaments over the past 20 years; Anthony 'Chaos' Giorgio, Captain of the Omerta, who has fished the Star Island Yacht Club Shark Tournament six consecutive years; Paul Hiller, Captain of the Crack Oar, who has been fishing offshore for more than 30 years; David O'Halloran, Captain of La Bella Donna, who runs Pinegrove Ranch and Family Resort in Kerhonkson, NY; and Gary Savard, Captain of the Tiger Shark, who has earned more than $500,000 in prize money since first fishing in the Montauk Marine Basin Shark Tag Tournament 23 years ago.

On Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 9pm ET/6pm PT on NBCSN, SHARK HUNTERS returned for Season 2 with two captains -- Peter 'Pete' Brancaleone and David O'Halloran -- returning for a second season, joined by three new captains: Carmine Zoccolillo of the Canyon Bound, who has been working off the waters of Montauk for 15 years; Jerry Passaretti of the Persuasion, a Brooklyn native, who has been fishing off of Montauk since he was 15-years-old; and Steven Forsberg of the Viking FiveStar, who took his first two-day trip at age five, and has been involved in the family business ever since. In Season 2 these captains go head to head in these competitions: the 28th Annual Star Island Yacht Club Shark Tournament that took place in Montauk, NY (June 13-14); the J&B Tackle Annual Block Island Sharkfest in Block Island, RI (June 20-21); and the 44th Annual Montauk Marine Basin Shark Tournament in Montauk, NY (June 26-28).
