Plot Synopsis

Created by FATHER BROWN writer Jude Tindall, SISTER BONIFACE MYSTERIES follows a clever, Vespa-riding nun, Sister Boniface, who is the police's secret weapon for solving murders. It's the 1960s and police forensics are rudimentary. Luckily the residents of Great Slaughter, nestled deep in the British countryside, have Sister Boniface. This nun might be predisposed to forgive -- but she's also one hell of an amateur detective. If there's evidence to be found, Boniface will find it, with a little help from dashing maverick DI Sam Gillespie and buttoned-up Bermudan DS Felix Livingstone, who's horrified to be stuck in the eccentric world of Great Slaughter. On Tuesday, February 8, 2022, Britbox released the first two episodes of SISTER BONIFACE MYSTERIES.

The 88-minute "Christmas Special 2023" debuted on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 on BritBox. Written by series creator Jude Tindall and directed by Ian Barber, this holiday special features Britain in the grips of the 'Big Freeze' -- the worst winter on record. Sister Boniface and her fellow travellers are stranded in a train after a frozen coupling snaps, leaving the last carriages stranded in snow. When The Star of the Orient, a precious jewel, is stolen from its safe and a passenger is discovered murdered, Sister Boniface must use her exceptional detection skills to decide who among the suspects is responsible. But with little signs of rescue and a failing generator, passengers must also contend with a more pressing issue -- freezing to death.

Season 3 of SISTER BONIFACE MYSTERIES debuted on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 on BritBox, which released the first two episodes of the new season:

"Never Too Deadly to Die": Sister Boniface is shaken and stirred when one of the screen-testing stars for the new Agent Best film is murdered.

"The House of Misfit Dolls": Sister Boniface finds herself on the hunt for a killer doll when a local toymaker is discovered stabbed to death in a locked room.

Two new installments drop weekly on Wednesdays through May 15.

SISTER BONIFACE MYSTERIES has been renewed for a fourth season.
