Plot Synopsis

Based on the childhood of comedian Mark Critch and his 2018 book of the same name, SON OF A CRITCH is a half-hour comedy series set in 1980s Newfoundland, Canada, starting with the a semi-fictionalized version of the comedian entering junior high school. The series is a heartfelt window in the life of a child -- who is much older inside than his 11 years -- using comedy and self-deprecation to win friends and connect with the small collection of people in his limited world. SON OF A CRITCH made its U.S. debut on Monday, July 24, 2023 with back-to-back episodes from 8-9pm ET/PT on The CW.

The sophomore season of SON OF A CRITCH made its U.S. debut on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 8pm on The CW. In the season opener, "Growing Apart," for the first time in his life, Mark is excited for the school year to start. But when he learns that Fox has a new boyfriend, he realizes that not everyone grows at the same speed. Meanwhile, Mike Jr. struggles to tell his parents that he dropped out of school.

Season 3 of SON OF A CRITCH made its U.S. debut on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 8pm on The CW. In the season opener, "That Was Me in Grade 9," it's the first day of ninth grade, and Mark is eager to begin his final year of elementary school. Finally, he'll be at the top of the social food chain! But when Mark discovers that he needs glasses, his cool guy dreams come tumbling down. The episode was written by Mark Critch and Tim McAuliffe and directed by Renuka Jeyapalan
