Plot Synopsis

SOPHIE: A MURDER IN WEST CORK is a three-episode documentary series that chronicles a shocking murder in rural Ireland sets off an increasingly convoluted quest for justice that spans decades and cuts across national borders. In 1996, a French woman is found brutally murdered near her rural Irish home just before Christmas, leaving her tight-knit community in shock. With the investigation heating up, police focus their attention on an unlikely suspect: a local journalist who had first reported on the murder. As the years pass, the case grows increasingly bizarre with multiple arrests, recanted testimony and allegations of police corruption.
