Plot Synopsis

Written by Ed Whitmore and directed by Marc Evans, STEELTOWN MURDERS is a four-part true-crime drama series that follows Paul Bethell through two timelines -- as frustrated junior officer in 1973 and a determined DCI in the early 2000s -- as his team turns to revolutionary techniques to find a serial killer, who murdered three teenage girls in Wales. Their murders were unsolved but never forgotten, and new DNA developments led the police to reopen the case after 30 years. STEELTOWN MURDERS made its U.S. debut on Monday, November 27, 2023 on Acorn TV, which released all four episodes:

Episode 1: As the police reopen an investigation into three murders that occurred back in 1973, DCI Paul Bethell tries to piece together a past that has haunted both him and a working-class Welsh community for almost 30 years.

Episode 2: With the swabbing operation set in motion, Paul aims not only to find his killer but also to eliminate individuals whose pasts have been defined by false accusations and callous rumors.

Episode 3: Through groundbreaking familial DNA technology, the team manage to locate the killer. However, without 100% certainty, Paul may have to rethink his approach.

Episode 4: As Paul seeks higher approval to exhume Kappen, the team are concerned that his tunnel vision could leave them in a worse situation than before. Meanwhile, the community anxiously hopes for a resolution.
