Plot Synopsis

STORM SURFERS follows Ross Clarke-Jones and Tom Carroll, two of Australia's greatest surf legends, on their quest to hunt down and ride the Pacific's biggest and most dangerous waves -- with the help of meteorologist/surf forecaster Ben Matson to help predict where the waves will appear. Approaching their fifties, Carroll and Clarke-Jones have an added urgency to their thrill-seeking, as their bodies age and their nerve falters. The crew utilizes the latest in storm forecasting technology, innovative surfing gear, specialized hand-held 3D cameras and customized mounts and rigs to give viewers a never-before-seen, first-hand POV perspective of big wave riding in three dimensions. STORM SURFERS 3D, a documentary film with Clarke-Jones and Carroll, opened in Australia on August 14, 2012, just five days before the series premiere on 3net.
