Plot Synopsis

SUPERSTORE is a half-hour comedy series about a group of employees at a super-sized megastore, Cloud 9, where Amy has worked for 10 years as a floor supervisor and Jonah, a recent college grad, alienates his new co-workers with his elitist behavior. Before long, his charisma and eternal optimism become contagious, endearing him to his fellow staffers -- especially Amy, who he helps find more joy on the job. From the bright-eyed newbies and the seen-it-all veterans to the clueless summer hires and in-it-for-life managers, together they hilariously tackle the day-to-day grind of rabid bargain hunters, riot-causing sales and nap-worthy training sessions. The staff at Cloud 9 includes: Dina, the store's assistant manager, who lives and breathes her job; Glenn, the intensely religious store manager, who isn't the brightest bulb in the store; Garrett, who frequently shares his philosophical insights and wry comments over the store intercom; Cheyenne, a very pregnant teenage employee who's sweet, unsophisticated, and naive; and Mateo, a brown-noser from an impoverished background, who thinks his job will take him to the top. On Monday, November 30, 2015 from 10-11pm ET/PT, NBC premiered back-to-back episodes of SUPERSTORE as a series sneak peek. In the first episode (10pm), Jonah begins his first day on the job at big-box store Cloud 9 and immediately starts a rocky relationship with floor supervisor Amy when he comes off as elitist and mistakenly marks appliances for only a quarter. He is also the romantic target of aggressive assistant manager Dina, whose bible is the employee code of conduct. Pregnant Cheyenne shares a memorable moment with her boyfriend, Bo. Then, in the second episode (10:30pm), "Magazine Profile," store manager Glenn gets overly excited when the Cloud 9 corporate magazine, Stratus, is interested in a story. The reporter, Cynthia (guest star Eliza Coupe), is more focused on Jonah, however, and the two develop a more-than-business relationship, which Amy had suspected. Garrett does his best to avoid be photographed for the magazine's cover. Cheyenne asks her boyfriend, Bo, to come up with a corporate jingle to help earn money to pay expenses for their upcoming baby. NBC broadcast a third sneak-peek episode, "Shots and Salsa," on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 9pm. SUPERSTORE had its official series premiere on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 8pm ET/PT on NBC. In this new episode, "Mannequin," Jonah's coworkers discover a mannequin that looks exactly like him, quickly making it everyone's newest obsession. While doing his best to prove to Amy and everyone else that the teasing doesn't bother him, Jonah ends up doing the complete opposite. Elsewhere Cheyenne is thinking of putting her baby up for adoption, pitting Glenn and Dina against one another in a fight over who would make the better parent. In the season ender, "Labor," Cheyenne finally has the baby, but she refuses to stop working because Cloud 9 employees do not get paid maternity leave. Jonah insists that they contact corporate to ask for a change, but when Amy makes the call, Ben mentions the word "union," sending corporate into a frenzy and resulting in a representative flying out to Cloud 9. This only makes matters worse. Dan Bucatinsky, Josh Lawson, Sean Whalen and Mark Proksch guest star.

The sophomore season of SUPERSTORE premiered on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 8pm ET/PT on NBC. In the season opener, "Strike," after a group of Cloud 9 employees walk out to protest Glenn's firing in last season's finale, Amy convinces her co-workers to turn the walkout into a full-fledged strike. Jonah tries to make the most of his one year of business school by joining Amy in negotiating with corporate. Almost immediately the ambitious Mateo regrets going on strike and sneaks back into the store to impress Jeff, the district manager corporate sent to manage the store during the crisis. Dina is also determined to impress Jeff as she's trying to be renamed assistant manager, and Garrett meets a beautiful woman on the picket line who proves too good to be true. One month earlier -- on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 10:30pm -- NBC premiered a special Olympics-themed episode of SUPERSTORE, with special appearances by Olympic gold medalists Apolo Anton Ohno, Tara Lipinski and McKayla Maroney. In this new episode, a Cloud 9 Olympics promotion gives Amy the chance to meet her childhood hero, gold medal-winning gymnast Missy Jones (guest star Cecily Strong), who proves to be a little too inspirational. Meanwhile, storewide "Olympic fever" causes Glenn to have some difficulty balancing his extreme patriotism, Jonah to learn a secret about Mateo's past and Dina strives to create a "closing ceremony" her colleagues will never forget.

Season 3 of SUPERSTORE premiered on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 8pm ET/PT on NBC. The season opener, "Grand Re-Opening," features special guest star Howie Mandel. The Cloud 9 employees are rushing to finish re-building the store in time for its "Grand Re-Opening." Amy and Jonah confront their awkward kiss; Glenn discovers something about himself; Garrett avoids Jonah; Mateo worries about the voicemail he left on Jeff's (recurring guest star Michael Bunin) phone; and Dina meets her match in Howie Mandel.

The fourth season of SUPERSTORE premiered on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 8pm ET/PT on NBC. In the season opener, "Back to School," on their first day back from suspension, Amy and Jonah steel themselves for a barrage of jokes and snide comments about their sex video, while Jeff (guest star Michael Bunin) goes to extreme lengths to win back Mateo.

Season 5 of SUPERSTORE premiered on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 8pm ET/PT on NBC. In the season opener, "Cloud 9.0," Amy tries to help her employees cope with Mateo's ICE detention -- and with the introduction of a new robot co-worker that makes them fear they could be replaced.

SUPERSTORE returned for its sixth season on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 8pm ET/PT on NBC. America Ferrera guest stars in the first two episodes of the new season. In the season opener, "Essential," the coronavirus hits, so Amy and Jonah try to bring some order to the chaos in Cloud 9 while being pulled in multiple directions. The employees learn what it means to be considered "heroes" while Amy and Jonah's impending move to California looms large. Then, one week later in the season's second episode, the Cloud 9 employees prepare to send Amy and Jonah off, so Mateo and Glenn attempt to organize a video tribute, and Dina searches for a new best friend. After an eight-week break, SUPERSTORE returned with new episodes on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 8:30pm ET/PT on NBC. In the winter premiere, "Hair Care Products," after Cloud 9 changes their policy of locking up Black beauty products, the employees are forced to reckon with systemic racism in the store, with Garrett leading the charge. Glenn desperately tries to right the store's wrongs, in misguided ways.
