Plot Synopsis
THE SUPERVET is a one-hour reality series that follows veterinarian Dr. Noel Fitzgerald (aka The Bionic Vet) and his team, as they use their pioneering techniques for hard-to-cure pets that might otherwise be beyond saving. Filmed over the course of a year, this series takes a behind-the-scenes look at his animal practice, chronicling the work of more than a hundred surgeons, nurses, ward attendants and physiotherapists. In each 60-minute episode, Noel treats three or four animals, including: Scooby, a Labrador who has a life-threatening tumour in his leg; Tiger the cat, whose heart stops beating during recovery from an operation; Otis, from whom Noel must extract a bullet before working out how to save the Lurcher's leg; a French bulldog with a fractured elbow, who Noel tries to help walk again; a five-month-old rabbit called Rufus with a badly broken hind leg; a cocker spaniel called Dixie, who needs major spinal surgery; Daphne, a three-legged dog, who needs help with its infected lone front paw; and many more pets who need extreme medical attention. Animal Planet aired the U.S. premiere of THE SUPERVET on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT.
