Plot Synopsis

THE SWELL LIFE follows former competitive surfer Izzy Paskowitz and his wife Danielle for one summer as they balance running a surf school, managing a foundation for autistic children, and raising their family of three children -- Elah, Elijah and Isaiah, who is autistic and was the inspiration for their Surfers Healing Camp. During their usual hectic Summer, Izzy and Danielle consider losing weight while continuing to worry about their children, especially Isaiah. Just when it seems like Isaiah has a chance to progress -- he sings in a band, takes part in an exploration of his obsessive-compulsive disorder with food, and enters a horse competition -- he regresses enough that they have to remove him from surf camp. Elah plans to move in with her boyfriend Chris, and the family eventually gather at their home for dinner. Meanwhile, Eli struggles as he tries to live up to his father's legacy. OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network premiered the entire nine-episode series as a marathon from Noon - 5pm ET on Saturday, August 6, 2011.
