Plot Synopsis
Chef Aaron Sanchez travels across the United States to explore America's local taco scenes, seeking out the chefs, families and locals who help define each city's Latin culinary landscape. In each half-hour episode of TACO TRIP, Aaron samples authentic cuisine -- classic carnitas, poutine-style nachos, fish tacos and more -- in a different city. In the premiere episode Aaron visits Chicago, the home to America's fifth largest Hispanic community. He hits Pilsen neighborhood spot Carnitas Uraupan for chicharron and carnitas, then heads to Wicker Park for chorizo chili cheese curds at Antique Taco, fish tacos at Big Star, and birria tacos at Archer Heights restaurant Birreria Zarazoga. After Chicago, Aaron then visits New Orleans, Portland, San Francisco, Philadelphia and Nashville. Cooking Channel first aired TACO TRIP as a one-hour special on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 8pm ET/5pm PT, nearly eight months before the series premiere on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 9:30pm ET/6:30pm PT. On Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 10pm ET/7pm PT, Cooking Channel premiered the second season of TACO TRIP. Kicking off in Denver, in Season 2 Aaron also visits San Diego, El Paso, Las Vegas, Austin, Baltimore, Atlanta, Boston and Portland, Maine. In the season premiere, Aaron soaks up the sun, innovations and traditions of the Mile High taco scene in Denver. With his Tio Mario and cousin Javier as guides, Aaron's menu includes Pork Carnitas Tacos and Gouda Mash at Comida; the legendary Chile Relleno Burrito at El Taco de Mexico and Native-American Fry Bread and Braised Bison at Tacobe. He then has a Southern Mexico-inspired dinner with his family at Adelita's Cocina y Cantina, where chef Silvia Ayala infuses the flavors of her hometown Michoacan into her Carne Asada Tacos.

Cooking Channel premiered the Season 2 finale of TACO TRIP on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 10pm ET/7pm PT. In the season ender, "Santa Barbara," Chef Aaron Sanchez surfs in to taste everything from age-old, authentic Mexican recipes to tacos with a twist. In California, two hours north of the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles lies the picturesque beach town of Santa Barbara. Offering up more than just good views, Santa Barbara's thriving farmers' markets provide fresh food to some of the delicious restaurants around the city. Due to its close proximity to Mexico, there's a strong Latin influence in the food scene.
