Plot Synopsis

Hosted by NY-based performer Todd Robbins, who appears as an on-screen narrator interwoven in and out of scenes of this series, TRUE NIGHTMARES brings to life the true stories that spawned urban legends -- like the boogeyman or the monster under the bed -- that have haunted our childhoods and scared us throughout our lives. Each one-hour episode includes three sinister stories, including the series premiere, which features these people: farmhand Ray Lamphere, who is madly in love with widow Belle Gunness on whose farm men start disappearing; young Angelo Hays, whose lifeless body is dragged away after a curious motorbike accident -- but with a life insurance policy just taken on him, is there something far more morbid to the story; and Army Sergeant Stephen Shap, a quintessential American hero and a devoted husband, who believes someone has to pay dearly when vows are violated.

On Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT, Investigation Discovery premiered the second season of TRUE NIGHTMARES. In the season opener, "No Rest for the Wary," a series of unusual behaviors has a man's family concerned about his well being; The gravesites of young girls are being desecrated; When a seemingly healthy resident at a retirement home dies suddenly, detectives are alerted and asked to look into it.
