Plot Synopsis

Narrated by Gary Anthony Williams, UNSUNG PRESENTS: BEST IN BLACK celebrates the 15th anniversary of UNSUNG by highlighting Black excellence in every sector of entertainment, especially fashion. The series opener, "Fashion Icons," features portraits of pioneering figures in fashion, from Run-D.M.C. and Grace Jones to Karl Kani and Virgil Abloh, who helped change the game, and change the world. Subsequent episodes focus on: Athletes (April 9); Film Pioneers (April 16); Activists (April 23); Movies (April 30); and Comics (May 7).

Season 2 of UNSUNG PRESENTS: BEST IN BLACK debuted with back-to-back episodes on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 9-11pm ET/PT on TV One. The season opener, "Television" (9pm), features stories of pioneering TV shows -- from THE JEFFERSONS and A DIFFERENT WORLD to INSECURE and IN LIVING COLOR -- that helped change the game and change the world. The second episode, "Political Leaders" (10pm), features portraits of pioneering political figures, from Barbara Jordan and Shirley Chisholm to John Lewis and Barack Obama, who helped change the game, and change the world.

UNSUNG PRESENTS: BEST IN BLACK returned with two new episodes on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 9-11pm ET/PT on TV One. In the first episode, "Trailblazers" (9pm), features portraits of influential TV pioneers from Diahann Carroll and Nat King Cole to Arsenio Hall and RuPaul, who helped change the game, and change the world. The night's second episode, "Entrepreneurs" (10pm), features portraits of successful figures in business, from Berry Gordy and Magic Johnson to Oprah Winfrey and Rihanna, who helped change the game, and change the world.
