Plot Synopsis
Each year, the United States Figure Skating Association sanctions the U.S. FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS, in which figure skaters from across America compete at the juvenile, intermediate, novice, junior and senior levels for 20 U.S. titles in ladies, men's, pairs and ice dance. During Olympic and World Championship years, the U.S. FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS serves as the final qualifying competition before U.S. Figure Skating names its competition teams. The U.S. FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS made its television debut in 1961 as part of the CBS SUNDAY SPORTS SPECTACULAR, with Bud Palmer emceeing coverage of the event, which was videotaped on the preceding Friday and Saturday at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, CO.
