Plot Synopsis

Executive produced by Mindy Kaling, who voices the main character, VELMA is a half-hour adult animated comedy series that tells the origin story of teenage outcast Velma Dinkley, the unsung and under appreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang. This original and humorous spin unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America's most beloved mystery solvers. The story opens with Velma being accused of killing a popular classmate, and she has just 24 hours to find the real murderer -- except she swore that she would stop solving mysteries...forever. Then, desperate to solve the mystery of her mother's disappearance, she teams up with her former BFF-turned-nemesis Daphne; meanwhile, Norville faces an enemy of his own: stoners. VELMA debuted on Thursday, January 12, 2023 on HBO Max, as the streaming service released the first two episodes of the 10-episode first season. Two new episodes dropped each Thursday through February 9.

Season 2 of VELMA premiered on Thursday, April 25, 2024 on Max, which released the entire 10-episode new season. When an even spookier mystery grips Crystal Cove, Velma must find a way to balance her detective work with the demands of her newfound popularity before it's too late. Meanwhile, her faithful friends Daphne, Norville, and Fred are powerless to help thanks to their own personal battles and worse: detention.
