Plot Synopsis

Follow family members as they hear and cope with the ramifications of the final wishes of a loved one who recently died. The person's will -- if there is one -- is revealed in front of cameras, and the family is left to decide whether the distribution of money and heirlooms is a telling reflection of how they were perceived by the deceased. Sometimes, when there's room for interpretation, the reading of the will is just the start of the family drama. Each one-hour episode highlights the estate of a single person, including: Joan Crawford; Hank Williams; Wilbur Robinson; Mary Sheehan; Joey Bishop; Pierre Dumaine; Doris Duke; Howard Hughes; and many more deceased rich and famous. Season 3, which premiered in October 2012, showcased superstars like: Tammy Wynette, the queen of country music, whose four daughters realized they had been denied their inheritance, launching a $50-million wrongful death lawsuit against their stepfather and their mother's physician; Ritchie Valens, an up-and-comer who died young and will-less; Jerry Garcia, whose grateful heart promised too much to too many; and even child star Gary Coleman, who left behind a messy estate plan that pitted his ex-wife against his former best friend.
