Plot Synopsis

Since 1954, ABC has broadcast Disney programs as part of anthology series that had many names, the most recognizable being THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY, which was the series title from 1969 through 1979 and again from 1991 to present day.
On Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 8-10pm ET/PT, ABC premiered "Disneyland 60," a two-hour special that celebrates Walt Disney's crowning achievement -- Disneyland -- with a glamorous, star-studded Diamond Anniversary event, both in the heart of Hollywood at the Dolby Theater and throughout some of the most iconic locations at Disneyland Park, including Sleeping Beauty Castle and Main Street U.S.A., and Cars Land, a themed area of Disney California Adventure Park. The special also showcases two dazzling displays of technology -- the "Paint the Night" Parade and "World of Color-Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney" in Disney California Adventure Park, along with many more. Acclaimed actor Harrison Ford, who portrays Han Solo in the Star Wars film franchise, gives viewers an exclusive preview of Star Wars-themed lands being developed at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts. New details of the ambitious plans to bring Star Wars to life at both resorts will be revealed during the show. Tony Award-winning star of stage, film, television and music Idina Menzel sang "Let It Go" the multi-platinum, Grammy and Oscar-winning song from Walt Disney Pictures' global box office smash-hit FROZEN. Menzel, who provided the voice of Elsa, performed in Disney California Adventure Park against the backdrop of "World of Color," the one-of-a-kind nighttime extravaganza. Music legend Sir Elton John performed two sensational songs in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Park: the Oscar-nominated song "Circle of Life," from Disney's The Lion King, and the new song, "Wonderful Crazy Night," from his upcoming album. The Los Angeles Philharmonic, conducted by music and artistic director Gustavo Dudamel, will join the celebration performing "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" from Walt Disney's acclaimed animated film Fantasia. Plus, Fall Out Boy, Little Big Town, NE-YO and Pentatonix are just a handful of music's biggest superstars who'll take to the stage during "The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60." Fall Out Boy will perform "I Wanna Be Like You," from Disney's Animated Classic "The Jungle Book." On location at Cars Land in Disney California Adventure Park, Grammy Award-winning country music vocal group Little Big Town sings "Steve McQueen." NE-YO is featured in a show-stopping song and dance number of the Oscar-nominated tune "Friend Like Me," from Walt Disney Pictures "Aladdin." Derek Hough, who serves as Master of Ceremonies for the evening, sings and dances to the song "Step in Time," from Walt Disney Pictures Oscar-winning "Mary Poppins," with special guest Disney Legend Dick Van Dyke. Pentatonix will perform the Oscar-nominated song "Be Our Guest," from Walt Disney Pictures "Beauty and the Beast," during "Paint The Night," the brightest and most vibrant parade in the history of Disneyland Park. Stars scheduled to appear include Jessica Alba, Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Sabrina Carpenter, Sofia Carson, Priyanka Chopra, Viola Davis, Hilary Duff, Ginnifer Goodwin, Nolan Gould, Neil Patrick Harris, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sarah Hyland, Jimmy Kimmel, Dame Helen Mirren, Lupita Nyong'o, Pink, Alfonso Ribeiro, John Stamos, Eric Stonestreet, Kiefer Sutherland, Kerry Washington, Ariel Winter and Zendaya.
