Plot Synopsis
WORLD'S BIGGEST SHIPBUILDERS is a one-hour series that travels to South Korea, Denmark, Norway, Poland, Singapore and Finland to introduce the boundary-pushing crew of engineers, shipbuilders, captains and designers as they work to build, test and launch three of the world's most complex offshore assets: a super tugboat, the world's largest jack-up oil rig and an ultra-efficient tanker. Working under extreme conditions, and tight deadlines, the teams toil to complete the assets and get them ready to access and transport oil. The series opens at the Okpo and Sungdong shipyards of South Korea, where two teams are building the Maersk Tangier, a giant tanker, and the world's biggest jack-up rig, the XLE4. Then, as the shipbuilders work to complete building the biggest jack-up rig on the planet, they face one of the heaviest lifts they've ever attempted. On Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT, Discovery broadcast the U.S. premiere of WORLD'S BIGGEST SHIPBUILDERS.
