Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas
Plot Synopsis
After an unusual event during an MRI for her headaches, Zoey, an introverted computer programmer living in San Francisco, suddenly starts hearing the innermost wants, thoughts, and desires of the people around her -- her family, co-workers and complete strangers -- through popular songs. At first, she questions her own sanity, but after getting some guidance from her musically adept neighbor, Mo, and making a breakthrough with her ailing father, Mitch, Zoey soon realizes this unwanted curse may just be an incredibly wonderful gift as she connects with the world like never before.
ZOEY'S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST premiered on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT on NBC, and moves to its regular timeslot -- Sundays at 9pm -- on February 16. In the time period premiere, "Zoey's Extraordinary Best Friend," Zoey tries to figure out how to control her new abilities while navigating her best friends' romantic feelings for her. A new medical victory for Mitch gives the family hope. Then, one week later in the next episode, "Zoey's Extraordinary Boss," Zoey must decide whether or not to get involved in her boss's Joan's troubled marriage after she hears Joan sing a "heart song." Zoey creates a new program for the family to communicate with Mitch, but when his first word is not what they expected, Maggie reaches a breaking point.
Season 2 of ZOEY'S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST premiered on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT on NBC. The second season continues to explore the feelings we keep buried on the inside, the human impulse for connection and the undeniable healing power of music and dance. Following a tragedy, Zoey and the Clarke family begin to recalibrate and navigate their new normal. As she finds herself in a new dynamic at work and in her love life, Zoey's musical powers continue to both awkwardly complicate and inform her worldview as she attempts to rediscover joy and connect with those around her. In the season opener, "Zoey's Extraordinary Return," Zoey returns to the world after an extended time away and discovers that a lot has changed at work and in her personal life in her absence. Harvey Guillen guest stars. After a six-week break, ZOEY'S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST returned with new episodes on a new night: Sundays at 9pm ET/PT on NBC. In the spring premiere, "Zoey's Extraordinary Memory," Zoey's effort to recreate a cherished memory with Mitch is thwarted by Leif. Max and Mo have their big restaurant opening.
