FIX THIS KITCHEN returns to A&E for a second season on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 9:30am ET/PT. Each week, one lucky homeowner and amateur cook get the shock of a lifetime when they come home to find their ugly kitchen demolished and, with the help of celebrity Chef Eric Greenspan and designer Nicole Facciuto, a new dream kitchen remodel underway. To celebrate their new season, Eric and Nicole sifted through TV history, created a menu of the best and worst TV series home kitchens, and dusted each item with a culinary critique.

FIVE BEST TV HOME KITCHENS

Series: SILVER SPOONS

Home Chef: Edward Stratton III

Culinary Critique: "The whole house was fantastical, a kid's dream. The kitchen was filled with toys, posters and bright colors. It even had a train running through it. How amazing is that!" - Chef Eric Greenspan

Series: THE COSBY SHOW

Home Chef: Cliff & Clair Huxtable

Culinary Critique: "The kitchen was so warm and inviting. With the island in the center and the dining table adjacent, it's the kind of place that makes the whole family want to spend time there. It just seemed that the whole show took place in that kitchen." - Chef Eric Greenspan

Series: COUGAR TOWN

Home Chef: Jules Cobb

Culinary Critique: "Simple and classic. Wonderful colorful accents provide personal touches in contrast to the painted white cabinetry. Under cabinet lighting illuminates a simple subway tile back splash and high end appliances, a pot filler, and black granite countertops are the envy of the neighborhood!" – Designer Nicole Facciuto

Series: PARENTHOOD

Home Chef: Julia Braverman-Graham

Culinary Critique: "We rarely see modern, high-styled kitchens on TV anymore, and this kitchen sets the bar when it comes to style. I love the openness of the kitchen, from the windows which provide open views, to the clean horizontal details. Plus, there's even a toy play kitchen for the kids. It's a classic mid-century design tastefully done." – Designer Nicole Facciuto

Series: BROTHERS & SISTERS

Home Chef: Nora Walker

Culinary Critique: "It's beautiful and functional. The island is the ideal place for family to gather and provides plenty of prep space. Plus the traditional, California-Spanish style is soft and inviting. I'd hang out there anytime!" – Designer Nicole Facciuto

FIVE WORST TV HOME KITCHENS

Series: GOOD TIMES

Home Chef: Florida Evans

Culinary Critique: "The kitchen was tiny and cramped. There was no counter space to speak of. I can't imagine trying to cook for that whole family in that space." - Chef Eric Greenspan

Series: THE JETSONS

Home Chef: Jane Jetson

Culinary Critique: "It's basically just a microwave. All the food is instant or in pill form! There's no cooking involved. If that's the future of food, I don't want to be a chef in the future." - Chef Eric Greenspan

Series: MAD MEN

Home Chef: Betty Draper

Culinary Critique: "This set design is actually spot-on for the era. Only problem, it lacks sophistication and architectural details which are showcased in Don's office. Feels like a cabin in the alps...who's up for snowshoeing?" – Designer Nicole Facciuto

Series: FRIENDS

Home Chef: Monica Geller

Culinary Critique: "Hello storage issue!!! I live in NYC too, but this kitchen is just oozing with clutter. An episode of HOARDERS in the making!" – Designer Nicole Facciuto

Series: TWO AND A HALF MEN

Home Chef: Berta, at Charlie Harper's house

Culinary Critique: "So, this home is supposed to be owned by a successful single guy. One look at that tile countertop and I'd be out the door. Yikes!" – Designer Nicole Facciuto

Plus, a bonus kitchen that's just awful.

Series: THE HONEYMOONERS

Home Chef: Alice Kramden

Culinary Critique: "Despite having only a single sink, double-burner stove, and ice-cube sized icebox tucked into the corner of a large room -- and with no counters or cupboards -- poor Alice somehow managed to keep hubby Ralph well fed and fat. Plus, the layout totally violates the principles of the kitchen work triangle." – TV Tango

About FIX THIS KITCHEN: In the premiere episode, airing September 10th at 9:30am ET/PT, we meet Janell Smith from Los Angeles, a mother of three, a devoted wife and an excellent cook. Her passion is creating delicious and healthy meals for her family and friends. That is exactly why her best friend of over 10 years, Julie, has nominated her for this amazing opportunity.  Janell's kitchen is old, outdated, the oven is falling apart and there is NO room for anyone to be in the kitchen with her.  Julie calls on designer Nicole Facciuto and Celebrity Chef Eric Greenspan to help surprise her close friend with a brand new kitchen, perfect for both cooking and spending time with the family…just in time for Janell to prepare for a neighborhood block party.  This season, FIX THIS KITCHEN kicks off of A&E's Saturday morning programming block "The Big Fix", which features A&E's lifestyle and home improvement shows.
