Plot Synopsis

BATTLEGROUND AFGHANISTAN is a reality series that follows Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines -- under the command of Capt. Ben Middendorf -- as they locate, disrupt and destroy the last remaining pockets of resistance of the Taliban in Afghanistan. First, the men go into the most dangerous place in Afghanistan: the village of Keshmesh Khan in the Zamindawar region. Their next objective is Compound 10, a known drug baron's hideout, where Capt. Middendorf splits his company into two squads and, accompanied by tanks, they enter the open fields of Afghanistan, totally exposed to fire and facing the even grimmer threat of IEDs. Golf Company move onward to a nearby Taliban command center in Zamindawar, one of the Taliban's last safe havens, which means they will do whatever it takes to defend it. Fourteen days into their most grueling mission, Golf Company have pinned down a Taliban command and control center. On their last mission before their scheduled return home, Golf Company is sent to clear a narcotics processing site. Featured men of Golf Company include: Capt. Ben Middendorf; Sgt.
