Plot Synopsis

Using re-enactments, first-person interviews and an on-screen clock that counts down the victim's final hours, FATAL ENCOUNTERS recounts the fateful relationship between killer and victim as their paths intertwine. Stories include: a nine-month pregnant woman who is lured to the home of a deeply troubled young woman with a secret plan to steal her fetus; two New Orleans police officers who work side jobs at the same restaurant -- until one of them unleashes a murderous rampage that will bring the entire Crescent City to its knees; a newly-promoted USDA officer who threatens to shut down a family's 80-year-old sausage plant, leading to a deadly face off; a 19-year-old who takes up with a new group of friends while bar hopping in New York City, and ends up at an afterhours party where he became the target of a gang initiation; a woman who helped her struggling neighbors with paid work, financial support and naming them beneficiaries on her life insurance policy; Genore Guillory who helped her struggling neighbors with paid work and financial support, even naming them as beneficiaries on her life but was repaid with the fury of one neighbor, a white supremacist; and many more chance meetings, random acts of violence, and mysterious encounters that send ordinary people down a deadly collision course toward their own mortality. This series returned for its second season on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 9pm ET. Investigation Discovery aired the Season 3 premiere on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 9pm ET, featuring Jedediah Harr, who wanted to live it up before shipping off to the Coast Guard.
