Plot Synopsis

Based on the web series of the same name, HAMILTON'S PHARMACOPEIA is a one-hour series that follows Hamilton Morris as he takes a journey around the world to reveal the history, chemistry, and societal impacts of the world's most extraordinary drugs. In the series opener, "The Story of the South African Quaalude," Hamilton travels to South Africa, the last place on Earth where Quaaludes can still be found, so he can study the drug, discovering a dark history of medical experimentation. Other episodes focus on: PCP in the United States; the psychedelic plant Salvia divinorum in Oaxaca; and more.

The second season of HAMILTON'S PHARMACOPEIA premiered on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT on Viceland. This season, Hamilton crisscrosses the globe to dissect the world's most intriguing substances including DMT, Peyote, and Kratom. In the season opener, "The Psychedelic Toad," Hamilton embarks on a quest to answer the most important question in ethnoherpetological history and along the way, he hunts down Bufo Alvarius (a species of Toad known to be hallucinogenic) and finds the power of love.
Season 3 of HAMILTON'S PHARMACOPEIA debuted on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT on VICE, immediately after an all-day marathon (8am-10pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener, "Synthetic Toad Venom Machine," haunted by past mistakes, Hamilton embarks on a journey to correct an error in his reporting and identifies the origin of an international toad venom smoking phenomenon.
