Plot Synopsis

Hosted by LL Cool JJ and with Chrissy Teigen as color commentator, LIP SYNC BATTLE is a half-hour series that features celebrities going head to head as they lip-sync the song of their choice. This series was developed by Stephen Merchant, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt and began as a segment on THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON in April 2014. Spike taped 10 episodes in New York in January 2015, showcasing the lip syncing skills of stars like: Jimmy Fallon vs. Dwayne Johnson; Common vs. John Legend; Anne Hathaway vs. Emily Blunt; Anna Kendrick vs. John Krasinski; Mike Tyson vs. Terry Crews; Michael Strahan vs. Hoda Kotb; Stephen Merchant vs. Malin Akerman; Derek Hough vs. Julianne Hough; Salt vs. Pepa; Queen Latifah vs. Marlon Wayans. Then, one month before the series premiere, Spike TV greenlit eight more episodes of LIP SYNC BATTLE, scheduled to be taped in Los Angeles. LIP SYNC BATTLE returned from its short hiatus on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, with new episodes featuring: Alison Brie vs. Will Arnett; Justin Bieber vs. Deion Sanders; Andy Cohen vs. Willie Geist; Victoria Justice vs. Gregg Sulkin; Abbi Jacobson vs. Ilana Glazer; Iggy Azalea vs. Nick Young; Terrence Howard vs. Taraji P. Henson (two-part episode). Season 2 of LIP SYNC BATTLE premiered on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 10-11pm ET/PT on Spike with a one-hour season opener that features a Tatum Takeover with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum. In the season debut, Channing dresses as Elsa from FROZEN and sings "Let It Go" and also performs "Run the World (Girls)" as Beyonce, while Jenna belts out Ginuwine's "Pony." Other stars appearing in the second season include: Kevin Hart vs. Olivia Munn; Nina Dobrev vs. Tim Tebow; Anthony Anderson vs. Tracee Ellis Ross; and other celebs like Christina Aguilera, Snoop Dogg, Shaquille O'Neal, Hayden Panettiere, Gigi Hadid, Eva Longoria, Chris Paul, Kaley Cuoco, Josh Gad, Cee Lo Green, Joel McHale, Jim Rash and more. Season 3 of LIP SYNC BATTLE premiered on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on Spike. The season opener features a battle between Sir Ben Kingsley, who performs Sir Elton John's "Rocketman," and John Cho, who sings along to "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" by Rod Stewart. Other celebrity lip syncers in Season 3 include Don Cheadle, Ruby Rose, Jay Leno, Laverne Cox, Lupita Nyong'o, Sarah Hyland, Wanda Sykes, Uzo Aduba, Milla Jovovich, America Ferrera, Regina Hall, Samira Wiley, Craig Ferguson, T.J. Miller, DeAndre Jordan, Jeff Dye, and Rob Riggle. Season 4 of LIP SYNC BATTLE premiered on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on the Paramount Network. The season opener features an iconic tribute to megastar Christina Aguilera's music as Taye Diggs and Erika Jayne sync some of her greatest hits. Diggs performs "Candyman" and Jayne syncs "Fighter" in front of Xtina, who's on set for the performances. After a three-month break, LIP SYNC BATTLE returned with new episodes on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 10:40pm ET/PT on Paramount Network. In the mid-season premiere, co-stars of Paramount Network's new series AMERICAN WOMAN, Alicia Silverstone and Mena Suvari, have an epic battle on the LSB stage.
Season 5 of LIP SYNC BATTLE premiered on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT on Paramount Network. The new season features performances by some of today's biggest stars, including Queer Eye's Fab 5 (Tan France, Antoni Porowski, Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown and Jonathan Van Ness), Andy Roddick, Brooklyn Decker, Darren Criss, Big Bird, and Vanessa Morgan with special appearances by Mariah Carey, Serena Williams, and more!

In the season opener, "Queer Eye," QUEER EYE's Jonathan and Karamo belt out "Telephone" by Lady Gaga and Beyonce. Plus, Bobby, Tan, and Antoni lip sync to Britney Spears' "Work Bitch," while paying tribute to "Oops! I Did It Again..." and "Toxic" with their costumes.
